WREX

The Welsh Rugby International Players Benevolent Association, commonly known as WREX to its members, friends and supporters is an organisation created by former players for former players.

Officially launched on 23rd of November 2002 in advance of the Wales v New Zealand autumn international, the aims of the charity are to provide relief of poverty and hardship of Welsh international rugby players and former players, or their families and dependants and including :

  • - Those requiring medical treatment for physical or mental illness or injuries that may relate to their playing days; or
  • - Those whose earning capacity has been adversely impacted by injuries or illnesses related to their playing days.

Whilst charities exist to help those seriously injured on the field, the founders of WREX wanted to provide support to those who have given so much for their country on the field of play but whose problems are very varied.

As a small organisation, WREX works very hard to ensure that they generate the funds needed to answer those calls when they come in, and welshrugby.tv is extremely proud to support WREX, and is delighted to announce that it will provide a donation to the charity for every subscription to the welshrugby.tv site.

If you want to get in touch with WREX to help support their work, contact the Welsh Rugby Former International Players Association on 01656 744311
